About MELAWIN Melatonin Implants
What is Melatonin?
Melatonin is a naturally-occurring hormone in animals and humans that regulates sleep-wake cycles. Taking melatonin before bedtime may help combat insomnia and has been shown to calm anxiety in dogs. Implants are the most effective method of delivering melatonin to animals.
In both humans and animals, melatonin promotes hair growth and may slow down the loss of hair. For show animals, it can produce beautiful, healthy and shiny hair. Melatonin can also help with seasonal alopecia in horses and other animals.
What is a Melatonin Implant | How Do They Work?
A MELAWIN Melatonin Implant is a tiny, cylindrical-shaped silicone capsule. Each capsule is filled with a precise amount of the highest quality, 100% pharmaceutical-grade melatonin (N-Acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine).
Either the animal owner or a veterinary professional administers melatonin implants subcutaneously, using a specially-designed reusable applicator. NOTE: We do not recommend using automatic applicators.
The implant’s sophisticated matrix structure maintains a sustained, steady supply of melatonin.
Always use a medical-grade disinfectant before every dose to clean both the instrument and the animal’s skin.
What Melatonin Implant Strengths and Dosages are Available?
Our MELAWIN melatonin products cover a wide range of concentrations from 24 mg to 12 mg, depending on the size of the animal.
MELAWIN 24 mg
Our 24 mg strength is the most potent implant in the market. Use this dosage for large livestock animals such as cattle and horses. A dosage of more than two implants is never needed.
MELAWIN 18 mg
An 18 mg implant is the perfect size for calves and sheep.
MELAWIN 12 mg
The 12 mg strength is usually used for cats, foxes, mink and other small animals.
